Guitar Shed is not looking for a hobbyist.
We are hiring a serious, high-level music educator who treats teaching as a craft and a profession.
We serve 500+ students weekly and are committed to being the most inspiring and professionally run music school in Atlanta. Our teachers are not part-time placeholders — they are leaders in the room.
If you want a casual side gig, this is not the place.
If you care deeply about preparation, student growth, and raising standards — keep reading.
You:
Teach one or more of the following instruments: guitar, piano, violin, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, voice and have 5+ years of real teaching experience
Are exceptionally strong on your instrument
Prepare for every lesson
Run structured, full-length sessions with intention
Know how to manage a room (especially kids ages 5–12)
Communicate confidently with parents
Show up early and contribute to team culture
Welcome observation and feedback
Take ownership when something isn’t working
You understand that talent alone is not enough.
Professionalism, consistency, and presence matter.
This is not for teachers who:
Wing lessons
Check their phone during sessions
Avoid meetings or retreats
Resist feedback
See teaching as something they do “until something better comes along”
We are building a culture of excellence. That requires commitment.
At Guitar Shed, teachers:
Run fully structured lessons
Track student progress
Contribute to recitals and community events
Participate in meetings and professional development
Observe and be observed for growth
Uphold high standards in communication and conduct
Pass a background check
A short teaching video is required.
We hire slowly and intentionally.
We offer instruction in guitar, piano, voice, violin, drums, bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle.
Multi-instrumentalists are a plus.
Experience with early childhood or group classes is a plus.
Starting at $27.50/hour , negotiable for proven excellence
Performance-based bonuses
W-2 employee option
Free tuition for immediate family
Teacher discounts on lessons
Discounted strings and books
Top educators at Guitar Shed build meaningful schedules and long-term careers.
We invest in people who invest in us.
Founded in 2015 in Atlanta’s Kirkwood neighborhood, Guitar Shed is a modern music school rooted in community and high standards.
We believe in warmth without mediocrity.
Creativity without chaos.
Community without complacency.
Our students deserve the best teachers in the room.
