Job Description
MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Foreman – Commercial & Industrial to lead refrigeration installation projects while supervising field crews and serving as the primary technical resource on assigned job sites. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating project activities, managing labor resources, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering high-quality commercial and industrial refrigeration installations on schedule and within budget.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, extensive commercial refrigeration experience, and the ability to effectively coordinate with customers, contractors, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead technical resource for assigned commercial and industrial refrigeration projects.
- Lead, train, mentor, and supervise apprentices, journeyman technicians, and installation crews.
- Coordinate daily work activities while prioritizing assignments to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor project schedules and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on time.
- Track project progress and provide regular status updates to management.
- Manage labor hours and assist with controlling project costs.
- Identify project changes and communicate the need for change orders when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe vehicle operation.
- Maintain compliance with company procedures regarding project documentation, scheduling, labor tracking, timekeeping, and reporting.
- Oversee third-party contractors and subcontractors as assigned.
- Ensure installations meet project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a trade school or technical training program preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial refrigeration, commercial construction, mechanical construction, or a related skilled trade.
- Previous experience leading installation crews or serving as a foreman preferred.
- All required safety certifications applicable to the position.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- Experience leading commercial or industrial refrigeration construction projects.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and construction trades.
- Familiarity with refrigeration piping, controls, mechanical systems, and project scheduling software.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in commercial, industrial, retail, grocery, food service, and construction environments.
- Frequent work in mechanical rooms with elevated noise levels.
- Exposure to refrigeration and HVAC equipment, including extreme cold from refrigerants and heat generated during brazing operations.
- Regular work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, cold, and dusty environments.
- Frequent work at elevated heights using ladders, scaffolding, and scissor lifts.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in active construction environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and work at heights for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally .
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, refrigeration equipment, and aerial lift equipment.
- Ability to safely drive company vehicles between project sites.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions.
