Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center in Wilmington, NC is hiring an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join their outstanding Surgery & Anesthesia  team!

$1,500 Sign-On Bonus available to RVT candidates, with the potential for up to $3,000 for RVTs with advanced anesthesia experience, pending a skills assessment.


Compensation: $26 - $35/hr, based on experience and licensure. 

Schedule:   Full-Time, Five 8-hour shifts or Four 10-hour shifts per week, overtime opportunities available!

ECVMC is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our high-performing Surgery & Anesthesia Department . As a Surgical RVT, you'll work alongside four board-certified surgeons and an anesthesiologist in a modern facility equipped with advanced technology like CT, MRI, endoscopy, and arthroscopy. You’ll be responsible for surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, patient charting, and ensuring smooth transitions from admission to discharge.

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Assist in surgical admissions and client communication with surgical patients, maintain accurate medical records and daily charges, coordinate patient discharges, reviewing at-home care with clients.
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals throughout surgery, ensure aseptic technique and proper use of surgical equipment, perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement, ensure aseptic technique and proper use of surgical equipment.
  • Support emergency transfers and hospitalized patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) status required.
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience, preferably in Surgery/Anesthesia.
  • Proficiency in advanced veterinary knowledge including restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia induction, monitoring, fluid therapy, drug calculations, laboratory equipment and procedures, pharmacology, disease processes, etc.
  • Attention to detail, with strong communication skills with both clients and team members, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely.
