The Bus Agent works to support the needs of airline tenants in the transportation of their passengers between remote aircraft locations and the terminal. This customer-facing role ensures the timely transport of passengers in a fast-paced airport environment while focusing on safety and the adherence to airport traffic rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operates shuttles and/or buses up to 40’ in length on a specified route between remote airport locations and the terminal.
Operates SUV-type vehicles (up to 8 passengers total), shuttles and/or buses up to 40’ in length off airport property during irregular operations (e.g., inclement weather) to include driving to and from pick-up locations utilizing public roads and freeways.
Assists passengers with the handling of luggage and boarding the vehicle where needed.
Performs and records on specified forms or by electronic means required pre and post trip walk around visual inspections to check for damage to vehicle and ensure all equipment is functioning properly.
Ensures the cleanliness of buses and boarding areas.
Consistently adheres to airport transportation requirements; ensuring safety is the primary focus.
Addresses questions and concerns from passengers with professionalism and courtesy.
Maintain clear communication with flight crews and other ground personnel.
Monitor weather conditions and take appropriate safety measures.
Comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority and carrier safety and security requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned to support McGee’s successful business operation.
Required
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Ability to obtain & maintain an airport SIDA badge, US Customs seal, and USPS security clearance.
Ability to work any shift, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and Holidays.
Lifting up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp.
Ability to maintain reliable attendance.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to get along with others.
Ability to work at a constant and quick pace for up to two consecutive hours.
Understanding and ability to utilize electronic tools to interpret flight schedules and airline flight destination information
Performing basic mathematical functions (e.g., counting bags, verifying cargo weights)
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Previous passenger bus driving experience.
Previous customer service experience.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
Lifting/Carrying: Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry baggage and cargo weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 75 pounds or more. This often involves lifting items onto raised surfaces or into confined aircraft bins.
Movement:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, crawling, and twisting for extended periods (up to 8-hour shifts or more).
Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work in cramped or high places.
Manual dexterity required for handling documents and operating equipment.
Driving/Operating Equipment: Must be able to operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts, which requires a valid driver's license and the physical capability to do so safely.
Vision/Hearing: Clear vision (including depth perception and peripheral vision) and hearing are required for monitoring flight information, communication via radio/headsets, and safety compliance in a noisy environment.
Outdoor Exposure: The job is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
Noise and Environment: The work environment is very noisy, near active aircraft engines and ground support machinery, and may involve exposure to fumes, dust, and other airborne particles. Hearing protection is usually provided and required.

This position is part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Per the CBA, work schedules are awarded based on seniority. New hires are awarded their initial shift based on operational need. Therefore, the company cannot guarantee certain days off.
